An easy way to encourage healthful eating in your business or organization is by serving healthy food choices at meetings and events. Many initiatives have already been developed to do just this and can provide a good framework for your organization to begin implementing healthier food choices.
The University of Minnesota School of Public Health offers these 2 simple guidelines for healthier meetings, seminars, and events:
Offer healthy food choices at breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and receptions
Fruits and vegetables
Foods low in fat and calories
Small portion sizes
Consider not offering food at mid-morning or mid-afternoon meetings, presentations, and seminars
It is not always necessary to serve food
Consider offering only beverages
If you do decide to serve food, try serving only fruits or vegetables
