Somerset County Youth Services Commission & LoveTrue present;

Emily Rutt; Associate Director & Alec Shover; Prevention Education Director of LoveTrue

In this interactive workshop, you will be provided with basic information about sex trafficking within the United States, as well as here in New Jersey, utilizing stories about real sex trafficking survivors. You will learn factors that put people at a heightened risk of being trafficked, while also acknowledging that anyone can be at risk. We will discuss recruitment tactics that traffickers use to get close to those they wish to exploit, including discussion on dating, peers, and the internet. We will go over red flags and warning signs to watch for that may signify that someone is being trafficked. With this framework laid, we will go into a discussion of the importance of trauma-informed care when working with survivors of sex trafficking. This includes interviewing techniques and sample general and intake questions. Finally, we will discuss confidentiality and reporting procedures, including who to contact for specific services, resources, and advice in the case that you come in contact with a survivor of sex trafficking.

A light breakfast will be provided; 2.5 Professional Development Credits will be made available for participants. Free parking is available on the 3rd level or higher in the adjacent parking deck.  Doors open at 8:30 AM.

Registration is through the Somerset County Office of Youth Services. To register please contact Gretchen Craig at or call 908-704-6281
